IF YOU DO NOT FEEL WELL, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO GYSO EVENTS.

Based on CDC recommendations and protocols from local schools and arts organizations, we’ve established additional guidelines for when you can and cannot attend GYSO rehearsals and events.

Due to changing guidance from local, state, and national health authorities, these guidelines are subject to change. 

NOTE: Home COVID-19 tests will not be accepted as valid proof of negative COVID-19 status.

 

Health, Safety, & Policies

The safety and health of our students, parents, patrons, musicians, and staff is of the utmost importance. The GYSO will comply with all applicable CDC, OSHA and Georgia safety and health requirements and maintain safety and health standards that equal or exceed the best practices of our host facilities.

As of Monday, January 3, 2022, patrons and participants in Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO) programs, including but not limited to GSO Season Performances, Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras [GYSO] Performances, Special Events, and GYSO Program Sessions, are required to adhere to the following guidelines:

 

For patrons and participants of GYSO events who are not GYSO students:

  • Masks are requested for all guests attending GYSO events

 

For GYSO students participating in GYSO events:

  • GYSO students, regardless of age, and as a requirement of their GYSO membership this season, are required to wear masks at all times.
  • Proof of vaccination of GYSO students is not required at this time.

 

What does this mean for GYSO rehearsals?

  • GYSO students, regardless of age, and as a requirement of their GYSO membership this season, are required to wear masks at all times.
  • GYSO parents/guardians, siblings, and family members are requested to wear a mask at all GYSO events, programs, and rehearsals
  • Proof of vaccination is not required at this time for any GYSO students, parents/guardians, siblings, family members or guests.

 

What does this mean for GYSO performances?

  • GYSO students, regardless of age, and as a requirement of GYSO membership, are required to wear masks at all times when on the premises of GYSO programs, and when performing on stage.
  • GYSO parents/guardians and family members are requested to wear masks. Performances will be closed to the public and will be limited to the family members of GYSO students.

 

Vaccination status of GSO and GYSO Staff

Currently, all GSO staff members (including GYSO program personnel such as GYSO artistic directors, coordinators, and interns) are fully vaccinated.

The health and safety of our staff, students, families, and audience members is paramount to the leadership and board of directors of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. As circumstances change, we reserve the right to modify this policy.

 

OPERATIONS

Ultimately, Kennesaw State University and Marietta City Schools make the final decisions about activity on their campuses. While we hope to complete our 2021-2022 rehearsals and performances uninterrupted, the calendar is subject to change as we are beholden to any closures they enforce.

REPORTING HEALTH & SAFETY CONCERNS

All GYSO families participating in in-person activities pledge to report any suspected, potential, or confirmed cases of COVID-19 within their own family.

Please monitor your student for symptoms and do not attend rehearsal if any COVID-19 symptoms become apparent.

Please contact us and do not attend rehearsal if you exhibit symptoms, come into contact with anyone who has tested positive/you anticipate will test positive for COVID-19.

HANDLING PROBABLE OR CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES

In the event of receiving a probable or confirmed case of COVID-19, we will assess on a case-by-case basis.

***These policies are subject to modification due to changing health and safety guidelines and recommendations.***

SCENARIO 1: I am fully vaccinated and tested positive for COVID-19.

Per CDC recommendations, if anyone attending a GYSO event (rehearsal, meeting, concert, etc.) tests positive for COVID, they do not return to an in person function by meeting ALL of the following conditions:

  • It has been 5 days since symptoms first appeared or since positive COVID test (asymptomatic cases only), AND
  • It has been 24 hours with no fever without using the use of fever-reducing medications, AND
  • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving, AND
  • You can provide confirmation of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken at least 72 hours before the next applicable rehearsal/performance, or a negative Rapid COVID-19 antigen test taken at least 24 hours before the next applicable rehearsal/performance.
  • You must communicate the results of the test prior to the rehearsal/performance. Please do not show up to rehearsal without communicating a negative test result to us.

SCENARIO 2: A member in my household tested positive for COVID-19.

If you are fully vaccinated and without symptoms, you may return to rehearsal in 5 days by meeting ALL of the following conditions:

  • If the positive household member is isolating, and
  • You provide proof of vaccination, and
  • You provide confirmation of a negative COVID test at least 5 days after last exposure, consisting of either:
  • And – You must communicate the results of the test prior to the rehearsal/performance.
  • Please do not show up to rehearsal without communicating a negative test result to us.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you may return to rehearsal in 10 days by meeting ALL of the following conditions:

  • 10 days have passed since your last exposure to the close contact that tested positive, and
  • You provide confirmation of a negative COVID test at least 5 days after last exposure, consisting of either:
  • And – You must communicate the results of the test prior to the rehearsal/performance.
  • Please do not show up to rehearsal without communicating a negative test result to us.

SCENARIO 3: I received a notice of close exposure.

If you are fully vaccinated and without symptoms, you may return to rehearsal in 5 days with:

  • Please do not show up to rehearsal without communicating a negative test result to us.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you may return to rehearsal in 10 days by meeting ALL of the following conditions:

  • 10 days have passed since your last exposure to the close contact that tested positive, and
  • You provide confirmation of a negative COVID test at least 5 days after last exposure, consisting of either:
  • And – You must communicate the results of the test prior to the rehearsal/performance.
  • Please do not show up to rehearsal without communicating a negative test result to us.
