Symphony Orchestra

• Will perform side-by-side with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra at Atlanta’s Symphony Hall.

• Will present the world premiere of a commissioned work by composer Brandon Gasaway, written specifically for the Symphony.

• Will feature winners of the annual Concerto Competition in performance.

• Receives sectional coachings from KSU Bailey School of Music’s acclaimed faculty throughout the season.

Philharmonic Orchestra

• Will premiere a newly commissioned piece by composer Kirt Mosier, created in collaboration with youth and collegiate orchestras nationwide.

• Welcomes Dr. David Doke as Music Director and Conductor. A professional violinist and veteran music educator, Dr. Doke brings over 30 years of experience to the podium.

• Receives sectional coachings from KSU Bailey School of Music’s acclaimed faculty throughout the season.

Camerata Orchestra

• Will present the world premiere of a commissioned work by composer Jim Palmer, written specifically for the Camerata.

• Welcomes Dr. Will Whitehead as Music Director and Conductor. Dr. Whitehead is Director of Orchestras at J.J. Daniell Middle School and holds degrees in conducting, music education, and viola performance from Florida State University.

How Can I Participate in GYSO?

The current audition cycle is for fall auditions. Fall auditions are identical to spring auditions, except students who audition during this period will be placed in at the start or early in a performance cycle.
