Symphony Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra is the most advanced orchestral ensemble in the GYSO program. Students in the Symphony Orchestra enjoy opportunities to work in Chamber music settings, outside performance opportunities, commission new works, and collaborate with guest artists.

The Symphony tackles some of the greatest orchestra repertoire in all styles and time periods- recent works include Dvorak's New World Symphony to Pictures at an Exhibition.

Students are treated as professionals in every regard --- from the rehearsal routine consisting of efficient and productive rehearsals, professional coaches, demanding repertoire, and the opportunity to perform in one of the regions finest performance halls!

A full symphony orchestra, it is comprised of approximately 90 string, woodwind, brass and percussion players who are high school seniors or younger.
