Youth Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for the 2008-2009 season.
The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra is open by audition to wind, brass,
percussion and string students, high school and younger, interested in

April 7, 2008 - Join the
Cobb Symphony Orchestra and the CSO Chorus for a spectacular season
finale with the triumphant sounds of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and
African-American Symphony by William Grant Still. The CSO will present
“Freedom’s Song,” the fourth Masterworks Concert of the 2007-08 season,
on April 19 and 20, 2008.
March 1, 2008 - Whether it's hot,
smooth, or New Orleans-themed jazz, the Cobb Symphony Orchestra’s new
“CSO JAZZ!” band has it all! Relive the swinging days of big band music
as a whole new team of jazz giants, under the direction of Sam Skelton,
delivers a smokin' hot evening of sizzle and soul in this memorable
concert experience on Saturday, March 15 at the Murray Arts Center in
Kennesaw.
March 1, 2008 - Think St. Patrick’s Day is
only for the Irish? Think again as lyrical melodies and percussive
grooves from many traditions weave into a potent blend of music with a
unique St. Patrick’s twist. The Cobb Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will
present the second in its series of three Super Saturdays “Tiny Tots”
concerts on March 15 at the Murray Arts Center in Kennesaw. “Imaginary
Homeland” will take audiences of all ages on a musical journey through
Ireland and beyond in this special holiday event.
February 2, 2008 - Composer and guest
artist Jing Wang will join the Cobb Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in the
world premiere of Rhapsody No.1 for Erhu and Orchestra. This unique
performance headlines the symphony’s third Masterworks Concert of the
2007-08 season on February 23 and 24.
November 12, 2007 -
The Cobb Symphony Launches SEND-A-SENIOR TO
THE SYMPHONY. The idea of this program is to allow senior
citizens, who normally could not afford to attend one of our concerts,
the chance to attend for free. This is done specifically through the
generous donations of area businesses like your own.

2007 -
On Sunday, October
7, 2007, the Cobb Symphony Orchestra announced its Young Artists
Competition with a first place cash award of $1,000 and a performance
with the Cobb Symphony Orchestra. A second place prize of $500 and a
third place prize of $325 will also be awarded. The Competition is open
to all students 21 years and younger in piano, strings, winds, brass,
percussion or voice.
October 3,
2007 - The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra
presents its season kick off November 4, 2007 at Kennesaw State
University. The Youth Orchestra, now in its second season, survived
amidst the chaos of the Dozier Centre, something that would have
normally been the end to organizations. It continues to vibrantly thrive
and is a cornerstone organization in the greater metro area. The 200+
members involved in the program come from 10 counties, over 60 schools
(public, private and home) and range in age from 8 to 18.
October 3, 2007 -
The Cobb Symphony continues its 2007-08 Master
Works Series in November by welcoming an old friend—acclaimed pianist
Russian piano sensation, Marina Lomazov. On Saturday, Nov. 10 at 8 pm
and Sunday, November 11, at 3 pm, Lomazov joins Music Director Michael
Alexander and the Cobb Symphony for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s First
Piano Concerto, one of the world’s most-beloved concertos for piano. The
program also features Haydn’s Symphony No.45, commonly nicknamed the
“Farewell Symphony” and a performance of Arthur Honneger’s Pacific 231.
September 24, 2007 - The music of
the movies comes to life this October, as the Cobb Symphony Orchestra
(CSO) presents “A Night at the Movies” on October 13 and 14. Audiences
will delight to a multi-media experience that features music and images
from The Sound of Music, Fantasia, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
